Here’s an energy efficiency story from one of our members, Susan.
I do something similar with overhead fans. I have a fan in every room. I open windows on the south side of the house during the day, draw in cooler air with the fans. After dark, I open windows facing west and draw in cool night air. I have outside roller shutters that I keep down on all windows to keep the sun off the glass. This works well for conserving heat in winter. I have solar panels and a battery, so I use electric appliances where I can instead of gas.
