Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network’s website refresh project

This week we transferred $5,000 to Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network’s website refresh project to build a new accessible hub for storytelling, training resources and opportunities to take online action.  Through the 2023 democratic budget customer members voted to support this project and this is the second of two payments for the $10,000 project.

The website serves as the key platform to elevate First Nations voices and leadership through developing and curating powerful content that is highly shareable, educational and offers entry points for action on Seed’s campaigns. Through this, Seed is shifting the mainstream narrative to centre First Nations perspectives and solutions in the national climate conversation.

Last year Seed’s communications team have been gathering insights, data and conducting internal consultations to inform the project, as well as engaging with First Nations website developers to support the build. They are hoping to sign a contract with the First Nations web developer early next year and will keep CoPower customer members updated.

Seed is Australia’s first and only Indigenous Youth Climate Network. They are building a movement led by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to protect our country, culture and communities from the causes and impacts of climate change. The vision is for climate justice.  They believe that First Nations leadership and self-determination is critical in building and sustaining strong, resilient communities where everyone can thrive. Firstly, they run ambitious campaigns to protect country and build climate justice; secondly, they run unique-peer led training and education programs; and thirdly, they elevate First Nations voices and leadership.
