In the 2023-24 democratic budget customer members voted to allocate $12,000 to an energy efficiency fund to assist households to reduce electricity usage to save money and carbon emissions. A customer member working group was formed to consider the options for this fund, and following a number of meetings over the last month have made the following recommendations:
The project will pilot the use of smart meter analysis to identify households who could benefit from energy efficiency interventions to reduce electricity bills and carbon emissions. Those identified from the initial sample of 100 high energy users will be contacted to share the results and discuss possible interventions. Free home thermal envelope assessments will be offered to 8 customer members. This pilot project will be used to scope the potential for upscaling smart meter analysis to drive energy efficiency interventions across CoPower customer members into the future.
