Here’s some energy efficiency tips from one of our members and happy renter Kathy:
Tip No 1 – If you have partial or full ducted cooling, try using it one hour on and one hour off. If the temperature is in the high 30s or early 40s, maybe two hours on and one hour off. The room or house will take a while to heat up again, so change to your pedestal fan or fans in your main rooms while the aircon is off.
Tip No 2 – If your bedroom is very hot, and the partial cooling doesn’t reach there, see if your landlord will install a ceiling fan there (mine did). This is much less costly than requesting a fitted aircon unit in the room, and doesn’t create an ugly hole in your wall or window. And it’s surprisingly successful in creating an inside breeze. I only need mine on Slow, otherwise it’s like a hurricane!
